1940 – Whitstable Parish Magazine – January

This is the seventh, and currently last, featured issue of the seven transcriptions made by Ken Sainsbury from issues of Whitstable Parish Church Magazines which he has kindly allowed us to include on this site.

With less than 3 years from the last issue the changes are more subtle. It is now war time and the role of the church is about to become more encompassing. The magazine now cost 2d.

The advertisers are now all local to the town and new trades are surfacing, such as Wine Merchants and Radio retailers.

The names mentioned now are within living people’s memory, so should be interesting from another perspective.
