A few observations:
Harriet Jane Appleton married John Acors Goldfinch in Dec 1878.
Are you sure that Stephen Henry Appleton’s wife’s maiden surname was Rowden? On my tree I have it as Merritt. I have
not checked my papers to verify this, though.
Kate Appleton married a Mr Snee in 1887 and moved to Beckenham near Bromley. Her spinster sister Clara Ellen was
with her on the 1901 census.

I have made an educated guess that its Frances Rowden who married Stephen H Appleton b 1852 due to Frances
having a sister staying with them on the 1891 Census

Family structures can be more complicated, though!
Mary Elizabeth Francies married twice: 1) William John Merritt in 1860 and 2) John George Rowden in 1875.
From M#1 she had Frances Jane Merritt in 1860.
From M#2 she had Louisa Florence Rowden in 1878.
So, yes, FJ and LF were sisters but of the half not the whole blood.
