Many of the Whitstable Warners appear to have been called Warrener before the mid-C19th. You may have to consider
that spelling, and other variants, if you cannot yet find him on the 1861 and earlier censuses.
Also, he may have been at sea on the earlier census nights.
I have a Thomas Warner b c 1835/36 to parents John and Mary, who married a Fanny Maria Walters in 1856. She had
died at some date before 1861. Could he have remarried and be one and the same as your man?

Hi – I’m a descendent of Thomas Warner / the Payne family also researching my family tree. Perhaps we could get in
touch some how and compare notes?
