Woottons of Whitstable

Wootton was my mothers maiden name and I have only limited knowledge of her family. As far as I know all her siblings are now deceased.
I note that in the Archive there is a list of WWII serving non-commissioned servicemen which includes 2 Woottons,
Wootton FJ RN, and Wootton J Merchant Navy.
If anyone can tell me more about these two men I would be most grateful.

Maybe if you let us know the people you are researching, we may be able to fit the NCO’s in after. Without there
Christian names its hard to find these fellows but when we research back on your Wootton’s we may come across them.

Thanks Suzannah. I was being purposely sparing with detail to try to solicit response from a relative or relatives that I
have lost contact with.
From the 1911 census I know that Fred W Wootton c1907 and James Wootton c1909 (my uncles) were living at 20
Middle Wall (my mothers birthplace in 1913)
Also recorded is James Frederick Wootton c1886 (my grandfather who died at sea in 1914)
My suspicion is that the Times entry for FJ should have been FW. I am not aware of any other FJ’s in the family.
My ultimate aim is to find any photographs of my uncles or grandfather in a search for family likenesses.

I cannot find a Frederick J born in Blean from 1880 onwards so possibly it is an error.
I am not sure if you used Genesreunited but there is at least 4 people with Annie Wootton 1913 in their trees.

I have just clicked that I have a Phillip R Wootton born c.1935 in Whitstable, married Florence June Foad 1959. One son Samuel.

Hello, I think our familys link at my great-grandmother Alberta. The only photo I have is a poor quality one of Lilian’s halfsister born after the war, so probably not much help to you, but my father still lives in Whitstable and may have other photos of his (half) uncles – I’ll ask and get back in a couple of days.
