Here we give you the opportunity to display your old family pictures on the internet. By doing so you not only honour your ancestors in them and Whitstable itself but are able to give and receive valuation information gleaned from them. All of this enhances our knowledge of the times these people lived in.
The added bonus to anyone now living away from Whitstable is the knowledge that your are returning a copy of these images back to the town from whence they came so that they may form part of the historical reference for future generations. All pictures used will be attributed to their owners or families. Each picture or series of pictures will be given their own page and any information that you can furnish with them will be added.
| Gambrell Men | Two pictures, date yet to be determined, showing Alf Gambrell and crew on-board a vessel in Whitstable Harbour in the latter 1800's. One of the pictures appears to be in celebration of a wedding and includes other men who may be the owners of the ship. |

Frederick Kemp and Family |
Two pictures, one of the family outside their house and one of the house itself - Albion House, Harbour Place. Armed with this picture we set off to track down the house, but arrived a few years too late. |

Tankerton Slopes 1905 |
Actually one of ours. Not the most spectacular picture but in finding this photograph it has now been saved as a record of the area that might otherwise have been lost forever. The photograph is itself in some ways more important than the scene. |
The easiest way is to scan and save them in .jpg format and attach them to a email. If you don't have a scanner but have a digital still camera then this can be used. We would rather not receive original photographs in the post as this would be putting too much trust in the vagaries of the postal services. If you have a number of pictures and can burn them onto a cd-r then post is alright. If you live locally to Whitstable we can arrange to scan them at your home and provide copies on cd-rom for your family.
Don't worry if the pictures have blemishes or other damage. You'll be surprised how well these come up with a little work on our part and you'll get the benefit of the cleaned up copy returned to you by email.
